RANGELEY — The New England Youth Chamber Ensemble, an orchestra made up of about 30 musicians from age 10 through college age, will give two concerts on Saturday and Sunday, June 12-13.
The orchestra based at Thayer Conservatory in Lancaster, Mass., at Atlantic Union College will perform Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rangeley; and at 3 p.m. Sunday at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in Carthage.
There will be a preshow jam session at Skye Theatre starting at 6:15 p.m. when audience members are urged to bring their instruments and jam with performers for a few minutes.
The New England Youth Chamber Ensemble plays concerts for churches, schools and civic organizations. Its concert repertoire is taken from a variety of great classical and sacred music composed in the Baroque period up to the present.
The orchestra performs throughout New England, and has had concert tours in California, Jamaica and Iceland. It is an outgrowth of the New England Youth Ensemble started in 1968 by Dr. Virginia-Gene Rittenhouse.
The Church of the Good Shepard is on Main Street. Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive. Tickets, $10, will be sold at the door. For reservations, call New England Celtic Arts at 562-4445.
