LIVERMORE FALLS — A convicted sex offender remained at an Auburn jail Monday after he was arrested on sexual assault charges Thursday involving a girl under age 14, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Heidi Wilcox arrested Kenneth Ridlon, 29, of Avon on a warrant after a lengthy investigation was conducted by Livermore Falls police Lt. Thomas Gould, Steward said.
Ridlon was arrested on three counts of gross sexual assault and was also charged on three counts of unlawful sexual contact, he said.
Wilcox brought Ridlon to Gould at the Livermore Falls Police Station, who then took him to the Androscoggin County Jail.
Ridlon’s bail was set at $5,060 cash, and he remained at the jail early Monday afternoon, a corrections officer said.
Police began the investigation after school personnel reported the incident to police on May 11, Steward said.
Ridlon was previously convicted of unlawful sexual contact in 2000 with a person under age 14. He is listed on the Maine Sex Offender Registry.
If convicted on the new charges, Ridlon faces up to 30 years in prison on each sexual assault charge and up to five years on each sexual contact charge.
