LITTLE RIVER, ALA.  — John Leon Cook, 67, of Little River, Ala., died Friday, June 4, at his residence. He was a native of Leeds and had resided in Little River for many years.

He was the son of Walter and Nettie Seavey Cook. He graduated from Leavitt Institute in Turner in June of 1960. After graduation he joined the USAF and served until he received an honorable discharge in August 1960, due to medical reasons. Before moving to Alabama he was self-employed and operated an automobile repair and salvage garage. After moving to Alabama he worked for Pinkerton Securities and in 2001 he and his wife, Norma, purchased a store on Highway 59 in Little River, naming it Norma’s Quick Stop, and that is where he worked until his death.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Cook, Little River, Ala.; six sons, Mike (Judy) Cook, Baytown, Texas, Rick (Tammy) Cook, Auburn, Henry (Lora) Cook, Excel, Ala., Richard Cook, Oxford, Bruce (Michele) Cook, Poland and James (Nicki) Cook, Oxford; two daughters, Joan (Billy) Wheeler, Houston, Texas, and Gloria (Bob) Howard, Repton, Ala.; two sisters, Annette Cook, Lewiston, and Judy Eastman, Frisco City, Ala.; two brothers, Gerry (Laurie) Cook, Excel, Ala., and Paul (Judy) Cook, Lewiston; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his father and mother, Walter and Nettie Cook; one sister, Beverly Fernald; three brothers, Raymond Cook and Stephen Cook; and one granddaughter, Abigail Cook.
