AUBURN – Tanner Sturgis’ towering two-run home run to left center field hoisted Rowe Ford to a 10-9 victory over American Concrete in Auburn Suburban Little League minor division baseball.
Sturgis’ shot was the first ball hit out of the minor league field at Auburn Suburban in several years. In an otherwise tightly contested battle, Tyler Libby led Rowe with four hits. Aaron Perkins, Robbie Marcotte, Ethan Rombalski and Colby Levesque each added three. One of Levesque’s hits was a triple. Tyler Libby turned in an outstanding catch in left field.
Jake Arel made two outstanding defensive plays for American Concrete. Bobby Tremaine also made a nice catch on the mound. American received two runs apiece from Tremaine, Jacob Hodgman and Liam Flynn. Austin Brown, Marius Morneau, Anson Perry and Arel also sparked the offense.
Rombalski banged out five hits to lead Rowe to another narrow victory, 9-8, over Dillingham and Sons. Seth Kolreg scored four runs for Rowe, while Libby had four hits and Marcotte added three. Nick Martinez and Libby each made nice defensive plays for Rowe Ford.
Boden Dock cranked out five hits for Dillingham. Giles Paradie and Brendon Whitman contributed three hits each. Paradie also turned an unassisted double play, and Storm Jipson made several nifty defensive plays.
Hardy, Wolf & Downing and Willis HRH played an extra-inning epic on Saturday afternoon, with HWD pulling out the 8-7 victory in the eighth.
What had been a defensive struggle broke open in the seventh. HWD exploded for four runs to take a 7-3 lead. Mason Brushwein’s single, Jacob Dubuc’s double, another single by Kyle Romero and a two-run double by Ian Brushwein provided the pop.
It wasn’t enough for the wiu, though, as Willis HRH battled back. Brandon Knapp capped the four-run rally with a mammoth, two-run homer.
Not to be outdone, Brady Gosselin singled and scored on a single by Jacob Dubuc for HWD in the eighth. Then in the bottom of the frame, with the tying run on second, HWD caught a runner trying to steal third to end the game.
Mason Brushwein pitched two innings of relief to earn the win. Curtis Ouellette was a defensive standout for Willis HRH with two awesome catches in right field.

LEWISTON – Dube Flower pounded out a pair of recent Elliot Ave. Little League major division baseball wins.
Dube rolled past United Ambulance, 17-2, on Memorial Day. Brady Cusson struck out six on the mound, giving up only three hits in three-plus innings. Owen McCarthy went 3-for-3 at the plate, including an RBI triple in a 14-run third inning. Jacob McBride, McCarthy, Izrael Ferrell, Jordan Ferrell and Noah Binnette all scored twice for Dube.
Keenan Lynch knocked in Isaac Escobar in the fourth inning. Eddie Turgeon also scored for United.
Owen McCarthy scored his first shutout complete game against Aubuchon Hardware in a 12-0 triumph. McCarthy surrendered two hits and two walks, striking out seven. Tanner Cote went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a run scored. Ferrell went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Nick Harndon, Matt Gaudette and Cusson all scored twice for Dube.
Kyle Gregoire reached base in both of his at bats for Aubuchon as Dube swept the three-game season series.
Apple Valley Babe Ruth
READFIELD – Maranacook swept a doubleheader from Winthrop, 6-4 and 13-12, in Apple Valley Babe Ruth baseball.
Carson Dalheim delivered two singles and Adam Brooks belted a double for Maranacook to back up winning pitcher Tucker Whitman. Jared Hanson cranked a triple and a single to lead Winthrop. Drew Stratton was the hurler for Winthrop.
Eben Ballard homered, doubled and drove in five runs for Maranacook in the Game 2 slugfest. Jared Hanson smashed three hits, including a double, and knocked in six for Winthrop. Jim Theriault added a triple and a single. Cameron Guild picked up the victory for Maranacook.
