OXFORD — A woman and her son were charged with selling prescription painkillers Friday after an investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Police arrested 48-year-old Dolores G. Paine, of Whitmore Road in Oxford, and Steven Allen Paine, 20, of Main Street in Oxford. Both were charged with trafficking in OxyContin, and Steven was also charged with trafficking in oxycodone.
According to an affidavit by agent Tony Milligan of the MDEA, a confidential informant told the department in January that he began purchasing Oxycontin, Vicodin and Percocet from Dolores and her two sons about two years ago. The informant said Dolores supplied her sons with the drugs
The informant was given a concealed listening device and marked currency and purchased drugs from Steven on two occasions in March. In the first sale, at a residence on King Street in Norway, the pills were positively identified as 5 mg oxycodone tablets. On the second occasion, at Steven’s apartment complex in Oxford, Dolores gave Steven pills to sell, and they were later identified as OxyContin. Both exchanges were observed by MDEA agents.
After an initial court appearance on Friday, both Paines were released on personal recognizance bail. They must not use or possess illegal drugs and submit to random searches and tests.
