I picketed the University of Maine at Farmington graduation this year. My sign read, “President Kalikow, you must speak out about UMF topless women.”
As I was watching the proceedings, I noted the august faculty figures in their robes and colorful stoles. Impressive, but what would have been more impressive is if those academics had gone to the misguided Andrea Simoneau in a timely manner and told her that “your reasoning is wrong. Men and women are differently made. You dishonor yourself and your community.”
I challenge the leadership of the president of the college, that she could not have seen a way to prevent the indignity against the community and the children. Her website goes on and on about her leadership and college community relations. That doesn’t really impress me.
It is known that UMF supports the gay movement (Maine Equality) here in our state (with our tax dollars).
Is that why the president of UMF didn’t use the considerable powers of her office to prevent that dastardly display of debauchery?
