SOUTH PARIS – Wilma M. Calden, 75, formerly of Peru, died Monday morning at the Veterans Home in South Paris.
She was born Aug. 5, 1934 in Woodstock, a daughter of Willis and Bessie McGuire. Wilma graduated from Dixfield High School in 1952. She was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.
She and her husband, Dennis enjoyed many winters in Fla. since their marriage in 2000.
She was a member of the Norway Baptist Church and enjoyed attending the “Hee Haw” shows at the Bryant Pond Grange. She was a kind and compassionate woman with a tremendous sense of humor, who will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, Dennis of Norway; her daughter, Sheryl D. Luther and her husband, Bob of Hudson, Mass.; three sons, John W. Dalzell and his friend, Debbie, of Bangor, Gregory A. Dalzell and his wife, Cynthia, of Rochester, N.H. and Stephen C. Dalzell and his wife, Marie, of Laconia, N.H.; her stepdaughter, Pam Higgins of Naples; her stepson, Kenneth Calden of Windham; her sister, Joyce Oliver and her husband, Lee, of Rocky Mountain, N.C.; and 14 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother, Willis “Bill” McGuire; and her former husband, Zane O. Brown, with whom she rode many miles on their Gold Wings, even riding from Maine to Alaska.
