LEWISTON — Nancy Barbara Allen, 65, of 56 Summer Street, Lewiston, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, at her home.

Born in Lewiston on June 29, 1944, she was the 12th child of Edward and Margaret Snyder Woodhead. She attended St. Joseph’s School from kindergarten through 8th grade, and was part of the first graduating class from the new school. From there it was on to Lewiston High School, graduating in 1962, and then to Pelletier’s School of Cosmetology. Soon after, she opened her own beauty parlor, and married her first husband, Mike Reynolds, who died in May of 2007.

After many years running her beauty parlor, she developed an allergy to to the chemicals used and was forced to make a career change, working various jobs until going back to school and becoming a licensed CNA for the Lovelette Nursing Home, and then Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice until she became disabled.

In 1991, she married her second husband, Garland “Butch” Allen, and together they travelled extensively until his passing in 2001. She enjoyed going to dances, playing the slots, reading, family get-togethers, and having coffee with her friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra A. Reynolds of Lewiston; a son, Michael J. Reynolds Jr. of Lewiston; four sisters, Lorraine Conant of Gardiner, Evelyn Levasseur of Lisbon, Marilyn Watras of New Britain, Conn., and Rosalie Lovelace and her husband, Harvey, of Conway, Ariz.; four brothers, Francis Woodhead and his wife, Beatrice, of Stuart, Fla., Howard Woodhead and his wife, Carlee, of Green Springs, W.Va., Daniel Woodhead of Lewiston, and William Woodhead and his wife, Ann, of Auburn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by an infant son, Julien Reynolds; two sisters, Loretta Cloutier and Maryann Woodhead; and three brothers, Lawrence, Richard, and Edward Woodhead.
