LEWISTON — Diabetes finally took the life of Ritchie (Dick) Alan Comeau on the morning of June 4 at CMMC. He had struggled with this condition for a long time, eventually losing all four limbs and enduring dialysis three times a week. He did it all and still managed to have that grin on his face.
He spent his final years living in Carthage, the Muskie Building in Rumford and Sandy River Center in Farmington. His childhood was spent in Dixfield; his life was spent in the Rockville/Vernon area in Connecticut. That is where he married, had his children and had the most fun of his life. He had a lot of friends and a wonderful life there.
He was full of stories, being a great bartender required him to be that. He has lost more friends than one could count and he was a great friend to many.
He leaves behind his son, Shawn Comeau, and his children, Alysa and Marcus Comeau of Rumford; his daughter, Devon Manner, and her children, Dustin Comeau, Kassey Manner and Jeffrey Roberts; a great-grandchild, Marina Manner of Connecticut; a sister, Deborah Swett of Dixfield; and his brother, Randall Comeau of Colorado.
He was predeceased by his parents, L. Arthur Comeau and Dorothy Comeau and his grandmother, Hilda Jonaitis. He had also said a sad goodbye to his faithful dog, Tiny. The “family” that he spent his final years with was the staff at the Sandy River Center.
