FARMINGTON — Kate McCarty, food preservation program aide of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, will offer a three-hour “Preserving The Harvest” food preservation workshop on Thursday, July 29, and again on Wednesday, Aug. 25. The workshops will be held at the Franklin County extension office, 138 Pleasant St.

There is a $10 materials fee each person. Participants will receive an information packet and learn recommended methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes, equipment to insure safety and how to check for properly sealed jars. Participants need to bring a potholder to the workshop.

The first workshop will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Deadline to register is July 22. The second class will be from 1 to 4 p .m. Registration deadline is Aug. 18.
