FARMINGTON — Registration for the Farmington Recreation Department’s summer youth program is open but due to the popularity of many of the offerings, organizers recommend parents and caregivers sign up early.
On Monday starting at 9 a.m., Farmington residents and caregivers may register children for the wading pool swim program for kids ages 3 to 7, and the Sumner P. Mills Swim Program for ages 5 to 18 that is held at the University of Maine at Farmington Fitness Center.
Also on Monday, registration for the Hippach Field Playground program for ages 7 to 12 will be held starting at 4 p.m. for Farmington residents.
On Tuesday, June 15, and through the rest of the week, registration for the playground and swim programs will be open to families from area towns. For appointments, call 778-3464.
A dozen programs are planned for the summer, and new this year will be the Backyard Sports Camp. It will run July 13 to 29 and is geared for children entering grades four to six who will play a variety of recreational sports, including flag football, kickball, lacrosse, badminton, Frisbee golf, Wiffle ball and more.
Other programs this summer are: Supervised Fishing; Introduction to Golf; Youth Self-Defense; Paul Blauvelt Baseball Program; Tennis Instruction; Mountain Biking Challenge; Pre-Season Soccer Camp; and Introduction to Field Hockey.
