FARMINGTON — A Wilton man remained in jail Friday night on charges of assaulting three police officers as they tried to arrest him Thursday night at property on Temple Road.

Timothy M. Harvell, 43, was charged with striking officer Michael Adcock and Sgt. Shane Cote, causing bruises, and Franklin County Deputy Sheriff Sandy Burke, who suffered a dislocated shoulder, Police Department secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.

Harvill is charged with assault, refusing to submit to arrest and criminal mischief. He was arraigned Friday afternoon with bail was set at $5,000 cash and a Maine pretrial contract, an officer at Franklin County Detention Center said. Harvell was moved to the Somerset County Jail in Madison later Friday.

Pomeroy said police responded to a fight at property on Temple Road about 6 p.m. Thursday and found Harvell walking away. After they got him into a cruiser, he tried to hurt himself and then managed to break free and flee into Temple Stream, she said.

County Sheriff’s Cpl. Nate Bean and his tracking dog followed him to Morrison Hill Road where he was arrested about 30 minutes later, she said.

Harvell’s injuries were treated at the scene.

The victim of the fight was not hurt.
