AUBURN — Sherman R. Mitchell, 84, of Church Hill Road, Leeds, died late Friday evening, June 11, at Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn.

He was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Leeds, the son of Burton M. Mitchell Sr. and Irene W. Ramsdell. Sherman attended school in Leeds.

He worked as a woodcutter and for Leavitt Area High School in Turner as a custodian. Sherman enjoyed his job very much. He also enjoyed going to county fairs. Sherman was a special person and will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, June Donnell, of Leeds; his brother, Burton M. Mitchell Jr. and his wife, Janet, also of Leeds; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Stella Leblond and Clara Benson.
