Representatives of two generations of veterans, Cory McCollette, left, of Bowdoin, and Philip Roy of Lisbon Falls, met and exchanged stories at a Memorial Day program held at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn. McCollette, who recently served in the U.S. Army, completed two consecutive tours of duty in Iraq. He raised the U.S. flag at the program. Roy, raiser of the POW/MIA flag, is an Army veteran from World War II who participated in the D-Day invasion at Normandy. He was later captured and spent six months in a German POW camp. The two men expressed respect and appreciation for each other’s service at the program.
