From her letter, Elaine Graham said she picketed the University of Maine at Farmington graduation ceremony (“Prevent the indignity,” June 8). I wonder if she kept a respectful distance, rather than distract proud parents and graduates on such a momentous occasion, or did she make a scene, as she has done in the past?

Graham attempted to make Andrea Simoneau’s call to attention of an interesting social norm and somehow dovetailed Maine Equality into the mix — as if the two subjects are synonymous. Clearly they are not.

So yet again, Graham finds a way to insert her disdain of Maine’s lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual citizens into her arguments, no matter the subject.

Although I agree with Graham that bare-breasted women can certainly cause a commotion, I cannot keep completely quiet as I realize that gadfly Graham gets galled by gays, again.

I’ve only one word left for her: Garrulous.

Joseph V. Keelan, West Gardiner
