RUMFORD — Physical therapist Scott Dening of the Rumford Hospital Therapy Services department has earned certification in the McKenzie Method, one of three advanced certifications he has achieved.
The Mcknezie Method, Mulligan mobilizations and Kinesio taping are all specialties that Dening uses in conjunction with more traditional physical therapy methods to aid and speed recovery for a wide range of patients.
Dening’s newest certification in the McKenzie method allows him to use a mechanical method of evaluation and diagnosis for spinal problems that can accurately predict what a more costly and less accessible MRI would reveal.
He joined the Therapy Services department in the summer of 2009. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from Quinipiac College in Connecticut. After graduation, he worked in Colorado and New Mexico before moving to Maine in 2002. His wife, also a physical therapist, is originally from Bangor and the couple wanted to live near her family.
Dening and his wife have two children and enjoy outdoor recreation.
