RUMFORD — The girl doesn’t know her name. The pig is an Elvis fan and Bunny will promise anything to get out of her cage. These are just a few of the characters in the absurd drama “Fences Around Our Food For Thought (or The Pig Play)” coming to town as part of the “Nancy O’s Special Show.”

The show offers a night of original theater, comedy and songs, starring Nancy Demings, Duane Glover, Susie DeRoehn, Thea Dunn, Bob Bohren and others.

There is some adult content.

Showtime is 7 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the Rumford Falls Auditorium, above the Rumford Town Hall.

“I wrote ‘The Pig Play’ 20 years ago and had a lot of fun and success with it in Arizona. I’ve never put it up in Maine. Just haven’t done much one-act work here. It’s mostly been improv and dinner theater and full-length plays,” Demings said.

“When I had the chance to do a night of theater at the beautifully renovated Rumford Falls Auditorium, I knew I wanted to do this play and I knew I wanted Duane Glover to play the pig.” she said.

“Nancy O’s Special Show” includes another play by Demings, her 28th, titled “Bright Skies,” a two-woman comedy also featuring DeRoehn.

“Basically, the ‘Nancy O’s Special Show’ is two plays, two stand-ups and two songs,” Demings said, with proceeds benefiting the auditorium.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. There is an entrance through the town hall on Congress Street and another through the police station on River Street. Advanced tickets may be purchased at Bartash’s Card and Gift on Congress Street.
