OXFORD — A nomination for the new assistant superintendent of the Oxford Hills School District is expected to be before the Board of Directors by next month.
Assistant Superintendent Rick Colpitts said Tuesday that the time to file an application for the job that he will vacate July 1 when he becomes the new superintendent of schools, closed yesterday.
“We do have some applicants. We have not yet looked through the pool to determine whether we have someone to interview yet,” said Colpitts, who will replace retiring veteran Superintendent Mark Eastman.
“We have a lot of work to do between now and then,” he said of the process.
Colpitts said earlier that an advisory committee established to oversee the interview process will interview candidates who meet the qualifications and then make a recommendation to Colpitts. He will take the recommendation under advisement and then make a recommendation to the full Board of Directors.
The advisory committee comprises a wide spectrum of people including school Board of Directors, mid-management and central office employees, Colpitts said.
Although the salary is negotiable, officials have budgeted $79,000 in the new fiscal year budget to pay for the position.
The money includes some federal funds to pay for part of the assistant superintendent’s responsibility to administer federal homeless and drop-out programs.
