BUCKFIELD — Selectmen voted Tuesday night to reduce the number of recreation committee members from 14 to seven because it has not had a meeting since April because it lacked a quorum.
The committee had been functioning with seven until last year when selectmen voted to enlarged because there were many applicants.
Aaron Harvey said Tuesday that things were going well to start with, but interest seemed to die and members were missing more and more meetings.
Selectmen nominated Harvey and Chris Reed for three-year terms, Randy Buswell for two years, and Heather Bowin and Diana Rowe for one year.
The board also appointed Kathy Parks and Diane Brown for three-year terms on the Beautification, Parks and Conservation Committee.
David Strout was appointed to the Budget Committee for three years and James Parker was appointed to the Ordinance Committee for a year.
Nick DiMaio was appointed to the Board of Appeals for three years.
Sandy Albert, a grant writer, reported to the board that she has found a grant that might be available to pay for moving the Bessey Field lights to the municipal field. The board gave Albert the go-ahead to start the grant process.
Town Manager Glen Holmes reported that all tax liens on property had been paid and the property had been sold back to the original owners.
The board asked Holmes to prepare a handout on wind energy for the annual town meeting June 26.
