AUBURN — Clenda E. Folsom, 81, a resident of Main Street, Monmouth, died Monday evening, June 14, at Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born Nov. 2, 1928, the second of thirteen children of Fred G. and Frances (Dore) Piper. She attended Winthrop schools. On Nov. 16, 1946, she married Francis M. Folsom in Winthrop. He passed away Nov. 18, 1997. She worked as a clerk for the Monmouth Post Office for 22 years, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed her retirement job as a clubhouse attendant at the Cobbossee Colony Golf Course. She was a member of the Monmouth United Church and the Golden Years Club. She loved playing golf and enjoyed reading and sharing her books. Some of her favorite times were family trips and gatherings. She was comforted by the companionship of her loyal cat, Mel.

She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Joyce and David M. Smith of Monmouth, Cheryl and David Harvey of Litchfield, and Christine and Chan Bearce of Gorham; five grandchildren, Pamela, Stephen and Susan Smith, Matthew Harvey, and Lisa Bailey; and three great-grandchildren, Destiny Harvey, Marcus and Darryn Bailey; five brothers, Maynard, Granville, Ormand, Louis, and Richard Piper; six sisters, Vivian King, Carolyn Mashburn, Eleanor Brown, and Harriet, Anna and June Piper.

She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Verna Coombs.
