AUBURN – Abby Roy recorded five strikeouts for Rotary in a 13-3 Auburn Suburban Little League softball victory over Gee & Bee.
Piper Norcross pitched with precision for Gee & Bee, keeping the Rotary hitters off balance. Olivia Paione and Sarah Hammond led the offense for Rotary with help from Kaylee Jipson and Lauren Jutras. The big hits for Gee & Bee came from Karli Stubbs, Dani Wyman and Emily Jacques. The defensive highlight was Emmy Lashua’s double play to end the third inning for Rotary.
In ASLL minor league baseball, Rowe Ford defeated Enefco, 11-9. Tyler Libby led Rowe’s offense with four hits and three runs scored, while Aaron Perkins banged out four hits and scored two runs. Chase Martin, Ethan Rombalski, Nick Martinez and Christian Anderson all had three hits for Rowe.
Michael Potvin and Mason Aube each had five hits and scored a run for Enefco. Daniel Nalley contributed four hits and a run. Nathan Farnsworth had three hits and two runs. Aube played a stellar game defensively. Robbie Marcotte made a fantastic catch in left field. Nick Martinez hooked up with Aaron Perkins on a nice play from short to second.
Hardy, Wolf and Downing won yet another ASLL pitchers’ duel with late-inning fireworks, 8-6, over East Auburn.
HWD’s Jacob Dubuc and East Auburn’s Matt Verrill matched out for out until the offenses finally broke through in the third. HWD’s Jack Coyne smashed a triple to the wall, scoring two runs. Kyle Romero and Brady Gosselin added RBI singles.
In the top of the fourth,Verrill and Austin Culleton connected for doubles, with Joe Cooper adding an RBI single. The score was tied heading to the sixth when Coyne added his second double. Romero’s RBI single provided insurance.
South Lewiston
LEWISTON – Hammond Lumber completed a stretch of four games in four days with a 5-0 shutout of second-place Cyber Solutions in South Lewiston Little League baseball.
Ryan Bell pitched five stellar innings for Hammond. He struck out seven while walking three and scattering five hits. Bell made multiple defensive plays that kept Cyber off the board. Haynes and Brent Jones also had nice defensive games.
Elijah Harris led Hammond at the plate with a triple and an RBI. Colby Bilodeau added a double and drove in a run. Cooper Millett, Jacob Labbe, Jacob Strout, Jones and Bell all scored for Hammond.
Earlier in the winning streak, Hammond defeated Poisson’s from New Auburn Little League in a tight defensive game, 4-3.
Hammond was backed by solid pitching from Bell, Strout and Jones. Cooper Millett made a great catch in left field in the top of the sixth and doubled the Poisson runner off second base to end the top half of the inning.
Harris reached on a fielder’s choice in the sixth before Bell cranked a game-winning double deep to center field.
In another walkoff performance, Hammond scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to overtake Gendron’s Mobil, 10-8.
Nate Albert held the Hammond bats at bay through five innings prior to the rally, highlighted by Jones’ three-run, inside-the-park home run. Bell went 3-for-3 with a single, double and triple. Bilodeau added a two-run double. Labbe also picked up a hit. Jones pitched well for Hammond after Bilodeau had to leave the mound in the second inning due to a sore arm.
Albert was 3-for-3 to lead Gendron’s. Jacob Gosselin added a triple. Cameron Shurtleff lashed out two hits.
Hammond handled first-place Aroostook, 4-1, behind the arm of Strout.
Strout gave up four hits while striking out five and walking three. Harris came in with two outs in the sixth and got the only batter he faced to ground out to first.
Ben Trytek scored the only run for Aroostook. Jack Leblond pitched a strong game for Aroostook, striking out six and walking four. Garrett Pouusard was 2-for-2 with three RBIs to lead Hammond. Bell and Bilodeau each added a double. Both teams played solid defense.
Elliot Ave.
LEWISTON – Elite Auto picked up a pair of Elliot Ave. Little League baseball victories in three days.
On Saturday, Elite Auto defeated Aubuchon Hardware (2-11) by a score of 19-7 in a one-sided slugfest. Inspired by the solid pitching of Jared Rubin (nine strikeouts in four innings), Ben Chasse and Sean Lake, Elite’s bats came alive in the fourth inning and did not quiet until the game finished.
Down 1-0 entering the fourth, Elite batted around in consecutive innings, scoring 12 runs in the fourth and seven more in the fifth. Evan Cox and Damien St.Pierre each went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Jared Rubin chipped in two timely hits to go along with two RBIs. Every player on the Elite roster knocked in at least one run.
Jed Drapeau led Aubuchon with two hits, Kyle Gregoire, Jacob Charest, Logan Freve and Corey Harvey each had one.
In Monday’s action, Elite knocked off Anthoine Financial Group, 10-9, in seven innings.
Nick Poland was dominant on the mound early for Elite, striking out nine in four innings. Poland also drove in 2 runs at the plate. Evan Cox was the eventual winner in the extra-inning contest.
Elite (4-10) scored four times in the bottom of the fourth to take an 8-4 lead. Danielle Bellegarde, Ben Gosselin and Poland each had a run-scoring knock.Anthoine answered back with four of its own, highlighted by triples from John Sturgis and Jean-Luc Dostie.
The game remained tied at 8 until the top of the seventh, when Anthoine plated a run on an RBI groundout by Jordan Dumont.
With daylight fading, Elite went right to work, scoring one to tie it on a dropped fly ball to center by Ben Chasse. The crushing blow was delivered by Jason Gonzalez in the form of a game-ending RBI single.
Samantha Rioux pitched admirably for Anthoine (7-6). Nate Cook, Jalen Allison and Hayden Dumont also chipped in hits for Anthoine. Cook cracked a pair.
Elite finishes off the regular season Friday against Melanson Paving (10-3).

Apple Valley Babe Ruth
READFIELD – Cody Lyon’s strong pitching paced Readfield to a 10-1 win over Sabattus in Apple Valley Babe Ruth baseball.
Sam Morin had a single and took the pitching loss for Sabattus. Maranacook’s Eben Ballard and Zach Elwell each delivered three singles. Tucker Whitman cracked two hits. Nick Lacasse belted a double.
Local fall league announced
LEWISTON – This fall will mark the inaugural season of the Lewiston Lumberjaxx, a baseball team for confident 10-to-12-year-olds looking to further hone their skills. The team will play in the Frozen Ropes Fall League for six weeks beginning in September against all-star caliber teams in the Greater Portland area.
Teams will play double-headers each Saturday against teams such as Deering, Falmouth, Portland, Yarmouth and the Frozen Ropes house team. Currently a few roster spots remain. Practices will run throughout August as well as during the season.
The Lumberjaxx are seeking sponsorships to raise the $2,500 required for equipment and league fees. Sponsors will receive a free ad on the team’s website, www.eteamz.com/lewistonlumberjaxx. The team also is looking for businesses that would like to place a coupon in a fund-raising mailer. Any interested parties should contact Rodd St.Pierre at 344-7007.
