AUBURN — Jean R. Poulin, 88, of Mechanic Falls, passed away after a long illness on June 15,  at the Hospice House in Auburn.

He was born on May 15, 1922, in Lewiston, the son of Joseph and Laura Poulin. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army Air Force and was attached to the B-24 fight crew as a gunner and mechanic. In 1943, while stationed in Italy, he met Pope Pius XIII.

He was employed at Morin Brickyard as a truck driver for 11 years. He retired from Knapp Shoe after 33 years as a machinist.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 153 and the VFW Post 1603.

He is survived by two brothers, Roger and his wife, Rita, and Norman, both of Auburn; one sister, Muriel Montreuil of Lewiston; a daughter, Carol Wyse-Ricker and her husband, Tim; a son, Ronald and his wife, Doreen; a daughter, Kellie and her husband, Dan Theriault, all of Auburn; a daughter, Koleen and her husband, Kevin Major of Mechanic Falls; and an extended family of Koren Burris of Lewiston; and Ken and his wife, Laurey, of Shelburne, Vt.; ten grandchildren, Daniel, Derek, Donald, Hannah, Jennifer, Justin, Kimberly, Kourtney, Nathanael and Zachary; and two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Amelia.

He was predeceased by a brother, Lionel Poulin; and his longtime companion, Shirley Dowling.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to his PCA, Chris Walker; Betty Brown, RN; and Dr. Austin and the staff of the Hospice House. His kind spirit and gentle humor will be greatly missed.
