HARTFORD, Conn. — Gerald L. Grenier, 83, of Hartford, Conn., beloved husband for 58 years of Theresa (Lachance) Grenier, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 12, at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Lewiston on May 12, 1927, son of the late Thomas and Bernadette (Goulet) Grenier, he was raised in Lewiston and Boston, Mass., and had lived in the Hartford, Conn. area since 1950. A veteran of World War II, Gerald served in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge in 1946.

Gerald worked as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney in West Hartford, Conn. for over 40 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed fixing things around his home and for his daughters, and going to tag sales to find old electronics and other items that he could repair, so that they could be enjoyed by others. He was a communicant of St. Justin Church in Hartford, Conn.

The oldest of 18 children, Gerald leaves many relatives from all over the United States and Canada. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jolyne S. Berman and her husband, Jerald, of Warwick, N.Y. and Lorraine Beaupre and her husband, Frank, of Broad Brook, Conn.; seven brothers, Dr. Rudolph Grenier, Bernard Grenier and his wife, Marilyn, Peter Grenier, Paul Grenier and his wife, Anita, John Grenier and his wife, Monique, and Renee Grenier, all of Lewiston, and Raymond Grenier and his wife, Sonia, of Wis.; seven sisters, Joanne Grenier of San Francisco, Calif., Madelene Girardin and her husband, Robert, of Lewiston, Georgette Clavet and her husband, Emile, of Lewiston, Jeanine Beaupre of Enfield, Conn., Claudette Guilmette and her husband, Raymond, of Enfield, Conn., Ginette Gladu and her husband, Robert, of Lewiston and Marthe Stokowski and her husband, Stan, of Calif.; and five grandchildren, Jenny Berman, Melissa Berman, Caitlyn Berman, Ryan Beaupre and Elyse Beaupre.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald and Thomas Grenier; and a sister, Bernadette Grenier.
