To escape a whipping Saturday evening, Arthur Cutler, the 9-year-old son of Sophie Cutler, ran away and went to the grocery store of A. P. Conant on Lisbon Street, where he remained for a time and then disappeared. Clerks supposed he had gone home and at the usual time locked up the store and went home.
At about 11 o’clock someone passing along had his attention attracted by a violent sobbing and upon looking in saw a small boy there. The youngster was let out and taken home to his mother. He had fallen asleep on some bags of potatoes in the rear of the store.

LISBON — The long-submerged bottom of the Sabattus River will be exposed this summer, when it will be lowered by five to six feet, according to David Chittim, manager of facilities at Maine Electronics.
Gates of the upper dam north of the Webster Corner Road bridge in Lisbon will be used to gradually lower the river in July and August, so that work can be done on the water outfall at the printed circuit plant. The outfall will be extended to permit construction of a canoe launching site on Maine Electronics property.
