AUBURN — Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m.Wednesday, June 23, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. Following the meeting and a bag lunch, bingo will be played. Tickets will be on sale for $5 for the cookin/cookout luncheon to be held Wednesday, July 28.
Fifty-three members were present when the group met June 9 under the direction of President Merry Strout. As the meeting opened Chaplain Pat Donohue held a moment of silence in memory of Evelyn Rose, a longtime Robin Dow member, who passed away June 7 at age 91.
Welcomed back after being away for some time were Kaye Hewison, Roger Briggs, Mary Ray, Pam Carrier, Florence Webber, Mary Tyler, Russell and Virginia Howe and Robert O’Conners, their absences mostly due to illnesses or for returning from spending the winter in Florida.
Trip chairwoman Evelyn Sawin reported she has a bus trip taking place Friday, Aug. 20 to Meredith, N.H. When arriving, passengers will board a train for a scenic train ride, including a full course turkey dinner. The cost of $62 includes bus fare, train fare, turkey dinner and bingo on the bus. One does not have to be a member to attend the trip. If interested, see Sawin at Robin Dow meetings or phone her at 998-4577.
Robin Dow members welcome visitors to join them on any trip or at meetings, and are happy to receive new members. Anyone can join from age 55 years or older, and new members are welcome from Lewiston, Auburn and all surrounding towns. Dues are $5 a year.
Birthdays for June were acknowledged. Attendance prize winners were Shirley Hawkins and Mary Tassinari; pot of gold, Helen McGuire, Anna Gavel and Pat Donohue; mystery prize, Tony Darling, Merry Strout and Callie Adams
After the meeting and a bag lunch, bingo was played.
