AUBURN — Roads in the city will get $3.97 million worth of work under a bonding plan councilors discussed Monday.
Councilors reviewed their proposed borrowing plan for capital investments during their regular meeting.
Councilors approved their part of their capital plan using general fund revenues last month when they approved the 2010-11 budget. But City Manager Glenn Aho said the city plans to borrow $5.4 million for capital projects and use another $370,000 in grants and money from older bonds that has been saved.
Councilors will host two public hearings on the capital plan and the bond package; the first will be at the July 6 meeting. The final hearing is scheduled for July 19.
According to city information, most of the bonding would be devoted to road repairs, most for full reconstruction projects around the city. The plan sets aside $2.08 million for that purpose.
Another $1.8 million would be used to resurface roads or reclaim roads. The budget also sets aside $200,000 to pay the city’s share of state road projects.
The plan also sets aside $100,000 for sidewalk repairs and $460,000 for drainage projects. Other projects include heating and air conditioner repairs, traffic signal repairs and road lighting upgrades.
The plan for the $370,000 special revenue budget includes maintenance for the Mechanics Row parking garage, city equipment, lights and networking gear and $20,000 of street improvements.
