AUBURN – No. 3 seed Auburn Firefighters advanced in the Auburn Suburban Little League major division baseball playoffs with a 6-2 win over No. 6 HRH.
Fire exploded for all six runs in the first inning on hits by Noah Perron, Noah Yarnevich and Austin Cox. All three also scored a run, with additional runs scored by Eli Thibodeau, Tyler Blanchard and Kodi Berube.
Cox pitched four innings, giving up only one run to secure the pitching win. Yarnevich closed it out ovre the final two frames, also giving up only one run. AFF also played stellar defense with no errors on the day. Steve Sinclair and Jean David Hird each scored for HRH. Brandon Knapp pitched 4 shutout innings for HRH.
In the other first-rond matchup, No. 4 East Auburn faced No. 5 Hardy, Wolf and Downing.
No. 1 Pepsi and No. 2 Austin & Associates each earned a bye. AFF squares off against Austin’s on Tuesday night.
Rowe Ford recently took on Hammond Lumber in a wild ASLL minor league baseball clash, with Rowe coming out on top, 17-10.
Seth Kolreg led Rowe with five hits and four runs scored. Tyler Libby added four hits and four runs, with three hits each from Robbie Marcotte and Tanner Sturgis. Iain Frumiento turned in an outstanding defensive effort for Hammond Lumber. Sam Leighton sparked Hammond’s offense with four hits and three runs scored.
Rowe moved on to a resounding 11-1 victory over M&P Auto. Colby Levesque was 6-for-6 on the day. Other leaders of Rowe’s offense were Christian Beliveau with five hits, four hits each for Sturgis, Libby, Aaron Perkins, and Christian Anderson, and three hits each for Nick Martinez and Chase Martin.
Levesque also had a strong defensive effort. Perkins and Martinez each pitched one stellar inning on the mound. Oliver Hall led M&P with three hits and a run scored. Hunter Langlois added three hits and great hustle on defense.
Apple Valley Babe Ruth
READFIELD – Maranacook rolled to a pair of wins in Apple Valley Babe Ruth baseball, 10-4 over Leeds and 9-2 over Sabattus.
Cameron Guild cracked two singles against Leeds. Carson Delheim outdueled Josh Bunker on the hill.
Guild picked up the pitching win against Sabattus over Parker Asselin. Richard Hall slugged two singles and Matt Delmar delivered a double for Maranacook. Asselin, Josh Martin and Jake Martin each had a hit for Sabattus.
