100 years ago, 1910

Among matters acted upon by the Auburn School Board at a special meeting held last evening, the salaries of the Auburn teachers were fixed for the ensuing year. The maximum pay for women teachers at E.L.H.S., was raised from $700 to $750, to take effect at the beginning of the next fiscal year.

50 years ago, 1960

Traffic lights in Auburn now change automatically from regular cycle to flashing as the result of work done yesterday. Police formerly have been making the change manually about 9 p.m., but a switch installed yesterday now does the work automatically.

The practice of turning the lights from regular cycle to flashing has been in effect for some time in Auburn, with police officers making the change when traffic lightened.

25 years ago 1985

Jean C. Caron, R.N. , executive director of the Maine State Board of Nursing, will deliver the commencement address at graduation ceremonies for the Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing’s class of 1985 on June 27.

Ms. Caron will address the school’s 33 graduates during their graduation exercises at the Bates College Chapel.

Having successfully completed the CMMC School of Nursing’s 22-month registered nursing degree program, the graduates will be awarded associate’s degrees in the applied science of nursing.
