FARMINGTON — Albert G. LaChance, 77, died June 20, at the Edgewood Manor Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for the past 19 years, after a short illness.

He was born in Skowhegan, Jan. 18, 1933, the son of George A. and Rose M. (Roderick) LaChance. He was educated in the schools of Gardiner. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army Tank Division. He worked for more than 20 years in local shoe shops in Lewiston and later made signs for the University of Maine in Farmington.

He was a member of the Roderick Crosby Post 28 American Legion of Farmington. He enjoyed playing cribbage, bowling and Beano.

He is survived by two brothers, Thomas J. LaChance and wife, Evelyn, of Auburn and Roland LaChance of Wells; a sister, Donna L. Brown of Smithfield; four nieces, Laurie Milano, Audrey Jones and husband, Ryan, Wanda Caswell and Tami Farnsworth and husband, Sean; nephew, Jonathan; adopted niece, Jeanne Harrell; and nephew, Phil Rand and his wife, Noreen.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Robert E. LaChance.
