AUBURN – Dube Gravel of South Lewiston Little League opened the playoffs with a 2-0 shutout of Cyber Solutions of New Auburn Little League.

Ben Doyle pitched a gem for Dube, striking out 11 in his 5 1/3 innings. Big defensive plays by Evan Gagne, McKale Smart and Shawn Vincent were instrumental in keeping Cyber Solutions in check.

Brandon Asselin struck out six in a strong start for Cyber Solutions. Dube Gravel’s Alex Porter was able to draw a walk and use his speed to get around the bases and eventually score. Gagne also doubled and scored for Dube.

Jeremy Madore made a terrific defensive plaay at the mound before striking out the final batter to earn the save.

Hammond Lumber is next in line for Dube. The Lumbermen continued their win streak with a 12-5 victory over VFW. Hammond used a combination of pitchers to hold VFW to four hits.

Kyle Ullrich led the VFW attack with two runs scored and three RBIs. Ullrich also pitched well for VFW.

Elijah Harris led Hammond with a double, triple and home run. Harris scored four times and drove in five runs. Ryan Bell added two doubles with two runs and two RBIs. Colby Bilodeau added two RBIs and pitched three solid innings, giving up just one run while striking out six. Cooper Millett and Garrett Poussard each added a pair of runs fo Hammond.

Hammond will face off against Dube Gravel at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Pulsifer Field in New Auburn.

Auburn Suburban

AUBURN – Dillingham and Son scored a pair of recent victories in Auburn Suburban Little League minor division baseball.

Storm Jipson led Dillingham with three hits in a 12-7 win over Hudson Bus. Brendan Whitman and Josh White had two hits apiece. Jipson struck out three in one inning of work.

Conor Wilson and Noah Soto had two hits apiece for Hudson Bus.

Giles Paradie and John Kokzkodan had triples for Dillingham to spark a 12-2 triumph over M&P Auto. Jipson had four hits. Paradie struck out the side in the third inning.

Jack Howaniec led M& P with two hits. Drew Bennett played great defense.

Apple Valley Babe Ruth

LEEDS – Maranacook trounced Leeds, 15-2, in an Apple Valley Babe Ruth baseball contest. Eben Ballard was the winning pitcher. Top hitters were Richard Hall with a double and a single, Tucker Whitman with a double and two singles, and Cameron Guild with a double and a single.

Winthrop moved over the .500 mark with a pair of victories, 4-3 over Turner One and 14-2 over Greene.

Jimmy Theriault picked up the pitching win against Turner. Zach Glazier belted a double and a single and Mario Meucci singled for Winthrop. Matt Bilodeau topped Turner with a double and a single. Nate Coombs and Andrew Marcous each singled.

Nate Bowers tripled to lead the charge against Greene. Winning pitcher Jared Hanson added a double and a single. Zach Steele also doubled. For Greene, Christian Fullerton had two hits, Fullerton, Tyler Hutchinson and Brandon MacDonald each clouted a double.
