LEWISTON — A man police say dressed in a ski mask who broke into an elderly woman’s home in Harpswell and robbed her prescription drugs was arrested Wednesday.

Sheriffs’ deputies from Cumberland and Sagadahoc counties arrested Michael A. Blasingame, 25, of 137 Pratt Road, Bowdoinham shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday. He was charged with robbery and aggravated assault, both felonies, and theft by unauthorized taking and transfer, a misdemeanor. He was being held Wednesday afternoon at Cumberland County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Police went to a Basin Point Road home after 9 p.m. Tuesday after a report of a home invasion.

A 77-year-old woman said as young man wearing a ski mask and armed with a knife had forced his way into her home and stole her medications, including OxyContin. During the invasion, he knocked her to the floor and her finger was cut by his knife, authorities wrote in a written release.

The woman, who was not identified, was taken to Parkview Hospital by rescue workers where she was treated for the cut.

Deputies from Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Brunswick Police surrounded the scene until a tracking dog arrived, police said.
