LEWISTON — A multi-generation fun run, the “Textile Trot” will kick off LADU: A Duathlon of Historic Proportion, on Sunday, June 27, at Simard-Payne Police Memorial Park.

Youth age 12 and under, along with parents and grandparents, are invited to participate in a 1/3-mile loop around the park. The race will begin at 7:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 6:45 a.m. No preregistration is required and the event is offered free of charge. All who take part will receive a ribbon for participating.

All children will receive a race bib number like the adult racers and will be provided with water as they cross the finish line as well as a ribbon and certificate. Sneakers and comfortable running clothes are encouraged.

The duathlon will immediately follow the Textile Trot with a 3-mile run, 14-mile bike and another 3-mile run all finishing at Simard-Payne Park.

Volunteers are needed to help out with the race as well as with the duathlon, which is slated to start at 8 a.m.
