Ryan Morgan started RDM Electric in Farmington in December 2009. After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1994-98 with Operation Southern Watch in the Persian Gulf, he decided to pursue a career in the electrical field. Ryan received his Associates degree from Kennebec Valley Community College in IEET (Industrial Electrical and Electronic Technology), and went on to work with several contractors in the area. When he decided to launch his own business, one of the first things he did was join the Franklin County Chamber. “I grew up in a family that was very community service oriented,” he said, “and I believe in the good work that the Chamber does for the community. I see them handing out food baskets to people during the holidays, and I just want to be a part of that.” Along with the work in the community that the Chamber does, Ryan appreciates the strong voice that they have for multiple businesses in the area. He tries to attend all the Business After Hours events so he can network with other small business owners. Ryan believes in buying local and purchases his supplies locally whenever possible. After just over 6 months on his own, he reports that people have been very receptive and happy with the work he’s done. In addition to his Chamber membership, he is also active as a Farmington selectman, Mt. Blue TV board member, 82 High Street board member, and member of the VFW. Ryan would like to thank his family for all their support while getting his own business up and running. He lives in Farmington with his wife Iris who works at the hospital, 6 year old daughter Kyla, and 18-month-old son Kelton.
