AUBURN — Rudy B. Parlin, 78, of Livermore, passed away June 22, at the Hospice House, after a short battle with lung cancer with his children their spouses and a dear sister-in-law surrounding him.
He was born in New Vineyard, Sept. 4, 1931, the son of Ivan and Harriett (Berry) Parlin.
He was a member of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War in Berlin, Germany for 18 months.
Our dad got lots of enjoyment out of his life as an avid fisherman and hunter with his best friend Dick Therrien. He was also a collector of many things, trading cards, belt buckles, chess sets, and especially his cribbage boards. He loved to play horseshoes, he was also enjoyed Bluegrass and country music.
He met and married the love of his life, Shirley, in 1953. Together they raised nine children. She passed away in 2005.
He is survived by sister, Tina Paxman; sister-in-law, Beverly of Mass.; a special sister-in-law, Marion Anderson and husband, Dick, of Wareham, Mass.; children, Sandra Hood and husband, Gary, of Fairfield, Milton and wife, Donna, of Livermore, Roxanne Sweatt and husband, Dave, of East Dixfield, Debra Labrecque and husband, Rick, of Rumford, Wendy Rusu and husband, Larry, of Pennsylvania, Mike and friend, Melanie, of Livermore, Susan Michaud and friend, Reggie, of Dixfield, David and Jill of Livermore and Dennis of Livermore; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews
He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Shirley; brothers, Roland, Laurence, Silas and Milton; grandson, Tony; great-grandson, Matteo; and brothers-in-law.
Dad, you will always be forever in our hearts. You are finally with mom again, together forever. We love you and will miss you so much.
