BRIDGTON — Police arrested two people and confiscated 18 pounds of marijuana and 145 marijuana plants during a raid at a Beartrap Road home Saturday, according to a release issued by the Bridgton Police Department.
Police placed a $51,000 street value on the processed pot and noted that one pound of it had already been packaged for distribution. The home was also equipped with video surveilance cameras, the press release noted.
Officers “TJ” Reese and “Mac” McCormick, Brad Gaumont along with Maine State Trooper Thomas Welch and Oxford County Deputy Chris Davis, executed a search warrant at 139 Beartrap Road at approximately 7:20 p.m., the release stated.
Arrested were Robert F. Murphy, 55 and Cynthia M. Murphy, 52, both residents of the home at 139 Beartrap Rd.
The Murphys were both charged felony cultivation and drug trafficking crimes. They are scheduled to appear in Cumberland County Superior Court in Portland on Sept. 2, 2010 to answer the charges.
In a prepared statement, Bridgton Police Chief David Lyons commended the officers and dispatchers involved in the investigation and arrests for their team effort, hard work and diligence.
