AUBURN —Hugh Keene, chairman of the board of directors for Community Credit Union, was recently recognized and presented with the Alexander Ferguson Award for outstanding credit union volunteer by the Maine Credit Union League at a special ceremony held in Portland in conjunction with the Maine Credit Union League’s annual meeting and convention. Nominees are submitted by credit unions, with the final winners determined by the league’s awards and convention committee.

Keene, of Auburn, has been involved with the Community Credit Union for 43 years. He is described as an excellent leader and a true “cheerleader” for the credit union, as well as all credit unions. He is dedicated to his position, other board members, the staff, and all activities the credit union is involved in. In addition to attending board meetings, he meets regularly with the president/CEO, serves on the credit union scholarship committee and assists in any way he can.
