GRAY — Robert Joseph Metivier, 73, died at his home in Gray, on June 24. His quick and peaceful passing was most likely due to heart failure.

Born Sept. 4, 1936, in Rumford, he lived in Rumford, Hartford, Conn., Andover, Mexico, Dixfield, Portland and Gray, and worked as an excellent carpenter having been taught by his father. Bob’s new found faith in Christ sustained him and carried him through the past few years while compelling him to reach out to others and to serve the churches he frequented.

Survivors include his brother, Ernest Metivier; ex-wife, Marie-Jeanne Blanchard Metivier; his sons, Robert, Dave and his fiancee, Margaret Esslinger Rapp and Eric and his wife, Carole Garnett Metivier; daughter, Maureen Metivier; grandchildren, Katie Metivier Greenwood, Dave and Leah Metivier, Nicole, Kyle and Sadie Metivier; and four great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Metivier Arsenault; his parents, Joseph Metivier and Margurite Bovin Metivier; and granddaughter, Rachel Metivier.
