LEWISTON — On Wednesday, July 7, organist Scott Vaillancourt will perform at the first noonday concert of the summer at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.
A freelance composer, arranger, performer and teacher, Vaillancourt graduated summa cum laude from Bowdoin College in 1992, and received masters degrees in music composition and performance from the University of Michigan.
Some of the many ensembles he has performed with include the Portland Opera Repertory Theater Orchestra, Portland Brass Quintet, and the Atlantic Chamber, Bangor, Colby and Portland symphonies.
Vaillancourt is music director at the basilica; a part-time teacher at the University of Southern Maine and Bowdoin College; principal tubist and organist for the Norumbega Ensemble; and a member of the board for the Portland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
He lives in Lewiston with his wife and three children.
Half-hour concerts begin at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesdays during July and August. They are free and open to the public. Donations for the organ restoration fund are appreciated.
