Woodmen activities

AUBURN — The following Modern Woodmen Camp activities for July have been announced:

Saturday, July 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Bahre’s private 60 plus classic car exhibit at Paris Founders Day, Paris Hill, $2.50 off admission. Thursday, July 22, 6 p.m., mid-summer lakeside concert, Highland String Trio, Bates College Amphitheater (rain site will be in Chapel). Participants should bring blankets, chairs and a picnic. Refreshments will be provided.

Wednesday, July 28, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Library Cafe, 49 Spring St., $2.50 off menu choice. Tickets must be picked up at Modern Woodmen of American, 67 Minot Ave. or call 783-8804 or 800-561-8506 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. 

Physics class

TURNER — SAD 52 Adult and Community Education will offer an Applied Physics class beginning Tuesday, July 6. The hands-on learning class will present the general concepts of physics. There is still time to register for this and other academic classes. Space is limited.

July 4 barbecue

LEWISTON — Hope Haven Gospel Mission will provide a Fourth of July celebration barbecue between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 209 Lincoln St. The meal will be available to shut-ins as well. All in need are welcome. Shut-ins who need delivery should call 783-6086.

Church breakfast

FREEPORT — A blueberry pancake and sausage breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. Sunday, July 4, at St. Jude Church on Main and School streets. The cost is $4 for a small order and $5 for a large order. For more information, call 846-5584.

Contestants needed

BANGOR — Contestants are being sought for the 2010 Miss New England American Pageant. Girls and young women ages 4 to 24 are invited to compete in the pageant on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14 and 15. They will be judged on interview and evening gown, and have the option to compete in talent, modeling and photogenic.
