OTISFIELD — Fourth of July events have been announced in Otisfield, including the annual parade at 11 a.m.

All the fun will start at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, July 4, with a free community breakfast at the Spurr’s Corner Church. The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church will assist with the breakfast. The menu will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit, muffins, coffee and juice. It will end at 9 a.m., followed by an hour of spiritual music.

Once again there will be a bake sale. Items for the bake sale are welcome and can be dropped off at the Spurr’s Corner Fire Station that morning. There will be plenty of pies to buy, in addition to the annual pie contest. There will be two pie contest categories: Mom’s Apple Pie and Family Favorites. Pies should be baked in a disposable pan, labeled with the type of pie, and the baker’s name and telephone number.

After the winners are announced, all pies will be sold to raise funds for the Kerry Grover Memorial Fund. Pie donations to raise funds are welcome and do not have to be submitted in either contest. For more information, call George Galarneau at 890-4674. Ribbons as well as prizes will be given to winners in both categories.

The parade setup will start at 10 a.m., south of Spurr’s Corner Fire Station on Route 121, in Cutler’s field. The parade will step off at 11 a.m. and will lead to the fire station, where 2010 Otisfield Fourth of July T-shirts, adult and children sizes, will be available for purchase.

Following the parade, there will be a red, white and blue water salute by the fire department, music, a watermelon seed spitting contest, pie contest and free popsicles and bottled water.
