The heart of the local golf season has fueled a flurry of holes-in-one. An astonishing five aces were reported to the Sun Journal community sports desk in the last three days.
At Sandy River Golf Course near the Farmington Falls/New Sharon line, Gale Shaw used a 6-wood on No. 3. Gale Olmstead witnessed the feat.
Josh Taylor from Raymond used a 6-iron on the No. 8, 182-yard hole at Fairlawn in Poland. Lonnie Taylor observed.
Carl Pratt of Winthrop solved the 150-yard No. 8 at Springbrook with a 6-iron. Ron Wing was Pratt’s playing partner.
Turner Highlands hosted two holes-in-one.
In tournament play, Seth Fournier aced No. 15 with a 52-degree wedge. John Linnell, Sean Doyle and Tim Doyle were witnesses.
Tony Dubois utilized a 5-wood for his career highlight on Turner’s No. 18. Lenny Fitzherbert and Tom Isaacson watched.
Hall of Fame inductions, tourney Sept. 10
CUMBERLAND — The Maine Golf Hall of Famer inductions and tournament will be held Sept. 10 at Val Halla Golf Club. Tournament will start at 9 a.m. Reception is at 5 p.m., with the dinner and hall of fame ceremony at 6 p.m. Tourney fees are $90 person and include golf, cart and banquet. Golf and cart only are $50.
