FARMINGTON — Authorities in Farmington continued their investigation Monday into a weekend accident that claimed the lives of two people from Industry.
Frankie Gragg, 24, and his passenger, Kateleen Roberts, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene late Saturday night on Ramsdell Road. The two were ejected from their pickup truck during the 11:40 p.m. crash.
Farmington police Lt. Jack Peck issued a statement Monday that the pickup truck driven by Gragg went off the road, hit a tree stump and rolled on to its side. He said the crash occurred at the intersection with Mosher Hill Road.
Peck said authorities determined that Gragg had been driving southeast on Ramsdell Road and lost control. It appears that neither Gragg nor Roberts was wearing a seat belt and that excessive speed was a contributing factor.
Blood samples were sent to the Maine Health and Environmental Testing Lab in Augusta for analysis.
Sgt. Shane Cote of the Farmington Police Department was assisted at the scene by deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and a trooper from the Maine State Police.
No further information about the crash was available Monday night.
