CANTON — Helena “Sue” Bracken, 87, formerly of Portland, died Friday, July 2, at the Victorian Villa.

She was born in Yarmouth, Sept. 8, 1922. She grew up in the Portland area and was the daughter of Herbert and Helena “Morris” Hodsdon. Sue graduated from Deering High School and Westbrook College.

She made her career and retired from the Brighton Medical Center in Portland as an accountant. She built a camp into a home with her husband, “Bud” at Watchie Pond in Standish and that is where her heart always stayed. She loved dogs and horses, playing the piano and had played the cello for the Portland Symphony Orchestra in Portland

She was married in Portland in 1958 to Harold B. “Bud” Bracken, who died in February 2002.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah S. Martin and husband, Craig A., of Canton; a son, Peter B. Bracken and wife, Laura, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Jesse and David Bracken; and several great-grandchildren.
