Temperatures today are expected to reach into the high ’80s and it’s going to be humid. If we’re going to endure the Caribbean climate, we might as well enjoy island music.

At noon today at Fountain Park in Lewiston, the Tinpanic Steel Drum band will perform. Every member of this popular group of amateur musicians hails from the Lewiston-Auburn area, and they put on a fun show.

At 6 p.m. at Lake Andrews at Bates College, Pan Loco Steel Band will perform. This quartet of professional musicians from Berklee College and the University of New Hampshire will perform calypso, reggae and island music.

The best part? Both concerts are free. So, get away for a couple of hours and enjoy the Caribbean.

Yeah, Mon.
