Strawberry breakfast
BRIDGTON — The 17th annual strawberry breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at the First Church Fellowship Hall, 33 South High St. Outdoor seating is also available under the tent. The menu will include pancakes, French toast, homemade biscuits, cold cereal and ice cream, all topped with freshly-picked local strawberries.
First Church members and friends of all ages will cook and serve at the event. Tickets may be purchased at the door, $8 for adults; $3, ages 5 to 10; and $2, ages 4 and under. Proceeds from the breakfast benefit First Church ministries which include Jeanette’s Closet, Thanksgiving Baskets and an Adopt A Child Christmas program. For more information, call 647-3936.
Supper dance
LOCKE MILLS — A supper dance will be held from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at the American Legion Hall. Music will be by the Richard Felt Orchestra. The supper menu will include baked beans, hot dogs, ham cold cuts, macaroni salad, potato salad, cole slaw and homemade pies. Doors will open at 4 p.m.
Cost is $10 for adults and $3 for children.
Reading skills
PARIS — Parents of beginning readers are invited to the Paris Public Children’s Library to converse about some playful ways to assist their children in retaining reading skills over the summer. The program will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 13.
The focus of discussion will be gift words, language experience, jigsaw sentences, shared reading and games. The presenter will be Billie Damon, librarian.
Nature club
SOUTH PARIS — The Twin Town Nature Club will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, July 12, in the DHS parking lot, north of Rite Aid. Attendees will carpool to visit the garden of Donna Primozitch and the Roberts Farm Nature Trails. Attendees should bring a picnic lunch. Visitors are welcome. Finnish society
WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society will host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. every Sunday (except Aug. 15) beginning July 11, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St. The public is invited to attend. The museum, gift shop and library will all be open and the coffee pot will be on.
Concert, supper
FRYEBURG — The Fryeburg New Church, 12 Oxford St., will sponsor a concert and supper on Tuesday, July 13. The supper will be served at 5 p.m. and will include casseroles, salads, baked beans, rolls, desserts and beverages. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. at Bradley Park.
Summer breakfast
WATERFORD — The second in a series of four summer breakfasts will be held from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, at the Wilkins Community House on Plummer Hill Road. A tradition of over 50 years, the breakfasts offer a menu of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, freshly made muffins, doughnuts, orange juice and coffee. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 10 and free for children under 5. Upcoming breakfast dates are Wednesday, July 28 and Aug. 11.
The indoor yard sale in the Wilkins House basement will be open from 7:30 to 11 a.m. New items appear at each sale. Proceeds from the sale go to the Building Improvement Fund. The Wilkins Community House Committee is a nonprofit group that oversees the upkeep of the Community House, which is available for community and private events.
Fun shoot
OXFORD — The Lake Thompson Fish and Game Association will sponsor a free Family Day Fun Shoot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at the club range on Paine Road, East Oxford.

Vacation Bible school
SOUTH PARIS — The Deering Memorial United Methodist Church invites children to join a safari to “The Kingdom of the Son” during Vacation Bible School, to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday, July 19 to 23. A closing ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, July 23. All children, ages 4 to entering the sixth grade, are invited to attend.
