SOUTH PARIS — The First Congregational Church has announced a summer sermon series beginning Sunday, July 11, and continuing over the next four weeks.

Over the past few summers it has become somewhat of a tradition for the Rev. Don Mayberry to invite guests to take part in a series of conversational sermons. The “Conversations of Faith” are simply casual chats that reveal faith in action in everyday life.

On Sunday, July 11, Mayberry’s guest will be Steve Wessler, executive director of the Center for Preventing Hate. The center has been in operation for the past 10 years. Located in Portland, the center’s work takes Wessler all over Maine as well as around the world. Also on July 11, Ed Gabrielsen will provide the special music of the service.

Guests on July 18 will be Arthur and Molly Rouner of the Pilgrim Center for Reconciliation. The Rouners will share stories of their work on healing and grace in Africa and will also talk about the role of their faith in everyday life. They have previously been guests of First Congregational’s summer series. Special music will be provided by Jewel Clark.

The July 25 service will feature a conversation with Phil Dubois, who will also provide the special music. On Aug. 1, Mayberry will chat with the Rev. Harvey Van Sciver about the power of prayer. Music will be by flutist Aranka Matolcsy.

For more information, contact the church at 743-2437 or check the church website at www.southpariscongregational.com. The church is handicapped accessible and everyone is welcome.

The summer worship schedule is at 9 a.m. Sunday services are broadcast live on AM 1450 and AM 780.
