POLAND — Comedienne Karen Morgan, hailed as the funniest lawyer north and south of the Mason-Dixon Line, will perform Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Cyndi’s Dockside Restaurant on Range Pond.
Born and raised in Athens, Ga., her Southern accent is somewhat of an anomaly in Cumberland, where she lives with her husband, three children and a big dog.
A former trial attorney, Morgan began a second career as a stand-up comedian after making her national television debut in 2005 on Nickelodeon TV’s “Search for the Funniest Mom in America.” After being chosen as one of seven finalists from more than 1,000 entries from around the country, she made comedy her full-time gig.
Licensed to practice law in Maine and Georgia, Morgan’s comedy focuses on “the trials of life” — relationships, parenting, regional and cultural observations, as well as aging (somewhat) gracefully.
Currently touring theaters nationwide, she can also be heard each week on her syndicated radio spot, “The Mother Load,” on “The Coast Morning Show” and on Sirius Satellite Radio. She has written a book, “You Might Be A Mama,” and is the only performer to be featured by Nestle® in its national campaign.
“Dinner Out with Karen Morgan” will begin at 6 p.m. at the restaurant at 723 Maine St. Cost is $37.50 per person. Seating is limited. For reservations or more information, call Joanne Messer at RML-998-4390 or e-mail [email protected].
