100 years ago, 1910

The biggest crowd of the season went to Lake Grove Sunday, the cars being crowded all day long. In the evening many went to the summer theater to watch the moving pictures while many others were about the grove. Those who went to Tacoma Lakes for the band concert reported a fine time. The travel down the line was heavy yesterday, also.

50 years ago, 1960

Members of the staff of St. Mary’s General Hospital gave a retirement dinner at the Poland Spring House Sunday evening for Dr. Romeo A. Beliveau, who retired recently after years of service as pathologist at the hospital.

Dr. Beliveau joined the staff of St. Mary’s in 1927 as head of the pathology department and has remained in that post ever since. He also served as head of the hospital staff and as county medical examiner for many years.

25 years ago 1985

William J. Rogers of Auburn has been elected chairman of the board of directors of Central Maine Community Health Corp., a subsidiary of Central Maine Health Care Corp., according to CMMC President William W. Young Jr.

As director of the board, Rogers will help oversee the corporation’s provision of health-care services in Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties.
