I am going batty because of the vampire-related content in the mainstream media. It seems as though there is an increase of interest in witchcraft and vampirism among youths. A pagan invasion is taking place in America and society has become spellbound.

I am mystified by the silence within the Christian church while our children are being deceived by devils.

I am attempting to take a bite out of this heresy.

First, our young people were saturated by the Harry Potter phenomenon, and now the obsession with the “Twilight” saga “Eclipse,” which is a romantic vampire film that was based on Stephanie Meyers’ 2007 novel. It is the third installment of the film series following “Twilight” in 2008 and “New Moon” in 2009.

Just one of the many issues I have with this fascination is the parallel between vampirism and sex. The penetration of the bite, the exchange of bodily fluids, and being changed forever by the bite is very similar to the way a person is changed forever by losing her virginity. The image of immortality is comparable to intercourse which, therefore, leads to procreation which is the closest that humans come to immortality in the real world.

We have come a long way since the old Dracula movies. Today’s vampires appear to be sexy and buff, making them very attractive to a young audience.

My prayer is that people who indulge in that type of entertainment thoroughly examine the thoughts and motives that are deep within them.
