1919 – 2010

AUBURN — Samuel J. Begin, 91, of 1667 Main St., Lewiston, died Wednesday, July 7, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Auburn.

Born on March 30, 1919, in Saint-Samuel, PQ, Canada, he was the son of Joseph and Marie Cote Begin. Moving to Lewiston as a young child, he was educated in local schools and worked for many years as a carpenter and mason. On June 27, 1942, he married the former Cecile B. Ouellette. She passed away on May 20, 2007. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, he enjoyed tending his flower garden and raising beagles.

Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine and husband, Wayne Andrews, of Poland, and Armande and husband, Paul Dube, of Collierville, Tenn.; a son-in-law, Richard McGraw of Florida; two sisters, Rolande Begin of Lewiston and Theresa Gagne Arsenault of Lewiston; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
